5 Explosive Digital Marketing Strategies for 2023

It’s almost 2023! And digital marketing your business this year will be different from how you’ve done it in the past. So many new opportunities just hit the scene, and I’m about to show you the most powerful marketing strategies you can use in 2023 to take your business to another level.

5 Explosive Digital Marketing Strategies for 2023

Modern digital marketing falls into five big buckets or categories, so we’ll dive into each one, and I’m going to share with you the single thing that’s working best right now for each, along with actionable tips that you can use to bring them to life.

Content Marketing: Short-Form Vertical Videos

If you want to create content that will make an impact this year and for the foreseeable future, it’s all about short-form vertical Video.

Here are some examples of Short Form Vertical Videos

  • Tiktok
  • Instagram Reels
  • YouTube Shorts

Tiktok

When Tiktok took the World by storm toward the beginning of the pandemic, it resonated big time with cooped-up viewers and got plenty of attention from other social media apps.

First, Instagram ripped it off. But eventually, he was inspired by its success.

Instagram Reels

Instagram CEO Adam Missouri said they were no longer a photo-sharing app last year because there’s some serious competition. Tiktok is huge.

How do we Embrace Video? More about the full-screen immersive, entertaining mobile-first Video.

YouTube Shorts

Next, YouTube made its play by introducing shorts. Whenever these major players roll out new features, they will incentivize you to use them with more views, bringing more visibility and Engagement.

If this were last year, I would tell you to be skeptical about going in on this trend simply because they were so new and may not last well. However, I’m not telling you that now.

This year, the short-form Video looks like it’s here to stay, and it’s probably your best bet for those higher levels of Engagement and to be remembered by your target audience.

If you’re worried that this will only attract Gen-Z’ers, that’s not necessarily the case. TikTok’s user base is aging, with 53% of users now over 30.

Plus, when you post those same videos as reels on Instagram, you can reach an even more mature audience.

Let’s talk about what you should post and how often to get the best results, even if you don’t necessarily want to go on camera yourself.

Studies have shown that if you want to grow on these platforms, you must commit to at least one Video per day to prove how powerful daily reels can be.

Instagram expert Dominic Rieger challenged five random students of his to do just that, and those who stuck with it for 60 days saw their follow accounts explode to over 34 000 people. But the Slackers, who only posted once weekly, grew by about 40 followers.

How can you produce and post a video every single day? It can be easier than you think!

Be generous about the production value.

In other words, your videos can look different from Oscar-winning masterpieces, and it’s not about that. On the other hand, simple videos work perfectly well, and there are a few types of videos you can churn out with minimal planning and effort. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

First, create videos that offer quick tip advice.
It may be a process you use, a surprising statistic related to your Niche, a product you love, a tool you can’t live without, or a book you recommend. You can present any of these ideas in any number of ways.

You can talk straight to the camera, with some related point-of-view video in the background, text on the screen, or even the green screen feature.

It works best if you set aside a few weekly hours to work on batching all the videos for the following week. It may sound like a lot of work. But at the end of the day, these videos are all super short, like 7 to 30 seconds.

And when you consider that you can reuse them on three major platforms, the exposure you can get is well worth it.

Search Engine Marketing | The Helpful Content Update

If you want to get found in search this year, there’s a brand new Google Update you need to know. The Helpful Content Update.

This new helpful content algorithm update is all about trying to get back to content that was written for people for years and years and years now.

People have focused on written content that tries to optimize for the algorithm. That’s what SEO is. Optimizing for the search engine.

Actionable Things You Can Do with Your Websites as a Business Owner

To rank in Google search in 2023, you need to consider the user’s intent when they search. That should land them on your sales page.

Have answers to the questions that people are likely searching for. You would want to make sure that those are covered.

You’d want to be super complete on your important SEO page.
Ensure you do not leave your visitors with questions they need to keep searching for on your competitors’ websites.

On a sales page, you’d want to have the following:

  • FAQs
  • Specs
  • Pricing

Make sure you answer the questions people are searching for on a home page.

Ideally, you’d like to rank for the type of service you’re offering. With that, think through the search queries your target audience/market is searching for and then create the most helpful content that answers that.

I’ll give an example of a locally-based business. I had a physical therapist I was working with, and he found out that there was like no content about how much physical therapy costs in his particular location, so he wrote content that answered that question. Not just how much his service costs but how much it costs in the area and what you get at the different price levels.

The cool thing about this update is it generally means that you can create fewer pages and posts. So in 2023, go all in on a handful of your most important ones.

Remember going deep in a few key places will get you better results than going shallow and Broad.

Social Media Marketing

In Social Media, we have the rise of user-generated content, otherwise known as having influencers create stuff on social for you.

Influencers bring a lot of benefits to them. For example, 61% of viewers trust the product recommendations they get from the influencers they follow.

Now compare that to only 38% that will trust social media content put out by you as a business. And that’s why this is such a big opportunity for 2023.

Before you write this off as too expensive or too hard to coordinate, this tip will solve just that. It makes it incredibly easy and streamlined, and fairly hands-off.

Tiktok Creator Marketplace

Tiktok is more than just a fast-destroying social platform. It is also aging up every day.

But with their career Marketplace, you can find the right influencers on any budget. In addition, you can negotiate terms and get them started through the platform.

You don’t have to search for the contact info and then email them or DM them like you used to. Nobody has time for all that, but it works through the Creator Marketplace.

Once you set up your account, you can use the filters they’ve got to find the best influencers for your audience.

You can filter things like:

  • The country they’re in
  • Their audience’s country or region
  • Follower accounts
  • Average views per Video or
  • Engagement rate

Believe it or not, sometimes you’d want to go for people with lower follower accounts because, generally speaking, what we call Nano influencers with smaller followings of 1-10,000 have much higher Engagement rates. In context, the average Nano influencers’ engagement rate is around 5.6% as opposed to 2.15% for those mid-tier influencers or 1.19 for those Mega influencers. But you probably can’t afford a Kardashian anyway, so let’s keep things real here.

Filter Influencers by Topics They Focus On

As of right now, this isn’t an exhaustive list, so this will probably only be a viable option for you if your business has a fairly broad appeal and narrow your audience based on these high-level interests and basic demographics like age, gender, and location.

Another cool thing is it lets you filter by fast-growing creators only, which is one of the things you’d want to be looking for when choosing someone.

But you can start seeing their prices immediately and see what their typical content looks like. Check out each profile before reaching out to them to ensure that their analytics look decent.

From there, you choose the influencers you’d like to work with, pick the goal of the campaign, then you fill out all the info related to The Campaign, make an offer, and then it’s up to them to accept it or not.

I recommend working with several at a time because that gives you more chances for some of these posts to go viral rather than just going all in on one Creator and one post.

Spark Ads

BONUS TIP: These posts can go viral, and you can turn these influencer posts into paid Tiktok ads. They call them Spark Ads, and they can be incredibly effective. You’re getting these Tiktok Pros to create your ads.

So choose the posts that ended up getting the highest level of organic Engagement and throw a little money behind them to push it out even further.

Email Marketing

While email isn’t the newest, shiniest, or sexiest category, it is the most profitable, making it a little bit sexier.

Email marketing has a 42 times ROI on average. So for every dollar you put into your email marketing campaigns, you’re likely to make $42 in return. But for email marketing to work, you have to get your ideal customers’ email addresses in the first place. And that’s what strategy is all about.
Interactive lead magnets
A lead magnet is anything you can dangle in front of your prospects in exchange for their email address.

Traditionally it’s been everything from signing up for our newsletter not great to offering an actionable download like a checklist or cheat sheet or even a video series getting warmer.

Those things are usually delivered for your prospect to act on, but interactive lead magnets usually get higher opt-in rates. And your potential customer usually gets a better result because they’re more invested in it.

My two favorite interactive lead magnets for 2023 are Timed challenges and quizzes.

Timed Challenges

A timed challenge is a great way to build many touch points with your opt-ins throughout anywhere from 5-30 days.

It works by figuring out what goal or result you want to promise to help your prospects achieve on their own with your guidance. Then work backward to nail down all the baby steps to help them get there.

How many days they’ll need to do it? Some common periods for these challenges are 5, 7, 10, or 14. usually, the shorter you can make it, the better.

Then, every day for the challenge, you email them with the activity or assignment they need to complete.

It works even better if you can vary how you deliver the information. For instance, sprinkle some videos into your emails every once in a while. Then, you’ll take that relationship-building to a new level.

Quizzes

A quiz Works particularly great if you want to tailor your advice or action plan to each person’s unique circumstances. You want to use an online quiz Builder. I use tryinteract.com.

You want to ask the right questions, similar to what you might ask in a one-on-one consultation, so they arrive at a result that kicks off.

Send them something just for that specific result.

PPC Marketing or Pay-Per-Click Marketing

This strategy is a game-changer when it comes to paid advertising. It’s all about being omnipresent or everywhere online all at once, and there’s a really easy way to achieve that, thanks to Google and this brand-new campaign type, and it’s a good one.
